discontinuance of my services as Assistant Superintendent Quartermaster General.

I have to state with reference

to this, that the abolition of the appointment has been so sudden, and

with so little warning, as to upset

all

my arrangements, and is I think therefore, somewhat of a hardship, and

gives me a claim to be considered by the Colonial Office, if, at some future time it is thought necessary

to re-establish this office, or the services of a Royal Engineer Officer are required in some other colony.

I have therefore the honour to request,

that you will be so good as to state fully that, if you are of opinion, that

the above grounds do give me a claim, you will forward for favourable consideration of H. R. H. the Field Marshal Commanding-in-Chief, with a view to my having ...
